A Full-Circle Moment with the School That Changed My Life
Some moments change your life. You just don’t know it at the time. That’s exactly what happened when I enrolled at The University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business, and it’s why being featured in a McCombs Magazine cover story feels like such a full-circle moment.
The class that started it all
It was in a McCombs class, MIS 310, where I was inspired to write my first book at age 18. I typed that manuscript late into the night throughout my second semester, likely annoying my roommate with every keystroke! McCombs is also where I met my first mentor, a guest speaker who completely changed how I saw my future. His key insight was to focus on impact and meaning, which has served me in more ways than I could ever have imagined.

Attending McCombs changed my life, even though I didn’t know it at the time. Which is why a cover story in McCombs Magazine means so much. I’ve had the honor of speaking at McCombs many times over the years, and as a keynote speaker I’m always inspired by the talent of the students and the commitment of the professors.
Even though I had zero idea what I was getting into when I enrolled at UT, I’m forever grateful for the journey, and grateful McCombs is part of my story.
